When I attended massage school in 2006, the industry was booming. The message was everywhere: “See the world while helping people feel good.” Classes were full, excitement was high, and students were eager to start a new career.
But within three years of graduation, many of my classmates had already left the field—or were barely hanging on. Over the past 19 years, I’ve worked in spas, clinics, wellness centers, and private practice, and I’ve seen the same patterns repeat.
Massage therapy is deeply rewarding, but it’s also physically and emotionally demanding. Your body becomes your livelihood—and that changes how you live your life.
Massage is widely recognized as beneficial for health, yet it often gets pushed to the sidelines. I’ve even experienced this firsthand—when my city shut down during COVID, massage therapy was classified as an “aesthetic service” despite the therapeutic care I provide. My clients saw me as essential, but the system didn’t.
you memorized in school—it’s an assessment of how you think and respond as a massage therapist. And yet, most programs focus on just getting you through the exam, without preparing you for the real-world demands of this career.
In a world where technology is advancing faster than ever, human touch has never been more important for our health and wellbeing. The more tech we have, the more touch we need. My mission is to help shift the way our society sees massage therapy—from a luxury to an essential, respected profession—and to train the next generation of therapists to thrive, not burn out.
Our commitment to holistic wellness and student empowerment is what sets us apart.
Traditional massage schools often fall short, offering limited training and neglecting essential aspects of the profession, like personal well-being.
It's frustrating when a traditional massage program doesn't allow for flexibility in your busy schedule. Between balancing work, family, and your own personal well-being, it's hard to squeeze in a traditional education.
Not to mention the lack of personalized support and guidance.
At Lighthouse Healing Arts School, we've got all those aspects covered.
In many states, you must pass the MBLEX before you can work. The MBLEX isn’t a test of what you memorized in school—it’s an assessment of how you think and respond as a massage therapist. And yet, most programs focus on just getting you through the exam, without preparing you for the real-world demands of this career.

The main things that set us apart are:
Our graduates become eligible to go on to work in:
This will largely depend on where you plan to work as each state has a different requirement. While the program prepares students to take the MBLEX for the National Board Certification, it is not the same as a state license. If you plan to work in Wyoming you just need a certificate to begin working. If you plan to work in Colorado, you'll need to obtain a license which we can help you with once you complete your certification and exam. It is always a good idea to check your state's requirements before deciding on the right school for you.
